Ahoy there me hearties!

It's my nephews birthday tomorrow, and he wanted a treasure chest cake, so guess what I have been doing today.

I'm off to bed for a couple of hours sleep now, I have stocktake at another Warehouse store tonight, and then the birthday party tomorrow, so need to get a couple of hours under my belt.

Am quite looking forward to next week, as it should hopefully be a bit quieter, workwise, as I need to get some things sorted out that I have got behind on, and would like to have a little bit of time for ME!

Bathroom

Further to my post the other day

Rotten floor boards = new shower

New shower = new lino + new roof.......

New vanity...........

.....Retiling......

$$$$$$$

It doesn't end

Here is the bathroom, as it looks now, half way through being ripped out.

And here is the kitchen. You may ask why I'm showing you a picture of the kitchen. If you look carefully to the side of the sink, you will see our bathroom vanity aswell. LOL. Yes, that's right, while the bathroom is in pieces we have to wash and brush our teeth in the kitchen.

And you ask about insurance??? Don't ask! $1500 is all they cover, and $500 of that is gone already on 'ChemDry', trying to save the walls, which leaves us enough to pay the for the shower itself, and everything is up to us, the builder expenses, the new lino, tiles, vanity unit, everything, lucky we've got some money due to us!

Soccer

While driving Braden to soccer yesterday, I chatted to him about the game of soccer. On the way there, and the way home we always casually chat about the game coming/had.

I asked him "What do you need to remember today?"

"Kick the ball out to my team mates" (cause at this age, they are still like bees around the honey pot)

"Yip" I say, "what else?".

"To have fun", "Yes", I say, waiting for some great soccer tip, then he says

"To try my best"

A huge smile creeps across my face, 'cause I realise 'he gets it'

Trying to be domesticated

I had a Tupperware party last week, and bought these great silicon muffin trays. I know you can get them at the WH for half the price, but I really love the shape of these ones, they are tall and skinny, they make really 'elegant', (not that I do elegant) desserts, just a chocolate fudge pudding, a little sauce, and you're away laughing.

Anyway, I made the most of feijoa season, froze some pulp, and also made a cake, and ABC muffins. When my MIL asked what I was making I had to tell her ABC muffins, and leave it at that, as mister 8 was in the room, and loves ABC muffins. Problem is mister 8 doesn't love bananas the same as he loves ABC muffins, and if you've figured out what the B in ABC muffins stands for, you'll know why I couldn't tell her while he was listening!!!

PS Apple, Banana & Chocolate muffins.

aka - do I actually have a life??

I saw this on Kelly's blog - cut and paste it on to your own, marking with an x the ones you have seen and leave blank the ones you have not. Apparently if you have seen 85 or more, you do not have a life!

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT

If a man wants you, nothing can keep him away.
If he doesn't want you, nothing can make him stay.
Stop making excuses for a man and his behaviour.
Allow your intuition (or spirit) to save you from heartache .

Stop trying to change yourself for a relationship that's not meant to be. Slower is better.
Never live your life for a man before you find what makes you truly happy.

If a relationship ends because the man was not treating you as you deserve then heck no, you can't "be friends ".
A friend wouldn't mistreat a friend.
Don't settle .

If you feel like he is stringing you along, then he probably is. Don't stay because you think "it will get better ."

You'll be mad at yourself a year later for staying when things are not better.
The only person you can control in a relationship is you.

Avoid men who've got a bunch of children by a bunch of different women.
He didn't marry them when he got them pregnant, why would he treat you any differently?

Always have your own set of friends separate from his.
Maintain boundaries in how a guy treats you. If something bothers you, speak up.

Never let a man know everything.* He will use it against you later.

You cannot change a man's behaviour.* Change comes from within.

Don't EVER make him feel he is more important than you are... even if he has more education or in a better job .

Do not make him into a quasi-god.
He is a man, nothing more nothing less.
Never let a man define who you are.
Never borrow someone else's man.
If he cheated with you, he'll cheat on you.

A man will only treat you the way you ALLOW him to treat you.
All men are NOT dogs.

You should not be the one doing all the bending...compromise is two way street.

You need time to heal between relationships ...there is nothing cute about baggage... deal with your issues before pursuing a new relationship

You should never look for someone to COMPLETE you...a relationship consists of two WHOLE individuals...look for someone complimentary...not supplementary.

Dating is fun..even if he doesn't turn out to be Mr. Right.
Make him miss you sometimes...when a man always know where you are, and you're always readily available to him - he takes it for granted.

Never move into his mother's house. Never co-sign for a man.
Don't fully commit to a man who doesn't give you everything that you need.* Keep him in your radar but get to know others .

Scared of being alone is what makes a lot of women stay in relationships that are abusive or hurtful : Dr Phill

You should know that you're the best thing that could ever happen to
anyone and if a man mistreats you, he'll miss out on a good thing. If he was attracted to you in the 1 st place, just know that he's not the only one. They're all watching you, so you have a lot of choices. Make the right one.

Ladies take care of your own hearts....

Share this with other women and men (just so they know)...

OK so who said it's fun owning a house?!?!?

We've had a couple of things niggling around the house that needed to get looked at, so today I managed to co-ordinate with the plumber and he came and looked at them.

The first was fairly minor, and a new ballcock thingy in the toilet, and we were all sorted.

The next was not so good. One side of our shower floor seemed to be 'dropping'/soft, so we assumed it was a leak, but he said that's not always the case, it could just be the polystyrene that has softened and 'collapsed', 'like a bean bag' was his comparison. Feeling a bit better about this I asked him what would be done, and he said "you'll need a builder, but I'll have a look." Unfortunately, once he had managed to extricate himself from under our house, he informed me it was not good, in fact it was all bad. It seems that because the 'base' had shrunk away it had made some movement, and every time we stood in the shower, it was causing the water to leak out, in between the shower base, and the floor boards, and there in now a rather large, or should I say a huge piece of rotten floor boards. I have to ring the insurance company, and the builder tomorrow, and see what to do next. Obviously, it has to be fixed, we just hope that the insurance company will come through for some of it.

A couple of weeks ago we also noticed a crack in the base corner of our logfire, and after chatting to a few guys on the Trade Me message boards we figured it was fixable, and one of Jon's mates also said he could fix it, we just had to take it to him. I thought that was a ridiculous idea, how on earth were we supposed to get the log fire out. While the plumber was here I asked his opinion, and he said it didn't appear to be too bad, fixable, and yes, you could in fact take them out, and quite easily, so that will have to get done soon.

This really couldn't have come at a worse time! I've spoken about us going to Aussie for a holiday, which we have put on hold till we know more about Jon's job. Last Thursday he came home, and said, 'let's just go, let's go to Fiji next week'. That was fine, but I still had to renew my passport, so we had a lookie around at some deals and didn't do much else. The next day he comes home, and says he's been talking to his mate, do I want the good news or the bad news. He tells me the house we are looking at buying (5 houses down the road) may be in our range after all, let's put the holiday on hold, and look into that more seriously.

Aaargh, now with these bills coming in we don't know where we stand, so the next couple of months are all up and down!

And because I like photos in my posts, here is the house we want to buy

NZ Dares

I started this dare the day it was posted, but I've only got around to posting it now (and it's not the best photo 'cause there's no light left)

When I first looked at my stash, I thought my only options were Basic Grey, but while searching I found these few Cloud 9 papers, and the letters, that I got from Spotlight.

Scrapping in Matamata

We had our first get together in Matamata for quite a while, on Saturday.

It is going to be a regular thing, so anyone interested leave a message, and I'll get in touch.

We had half a dozen come along this time, (lots interested, just didn't suit this time), including the 8 year old son of one of the ladies, who, by the way, was so well behaved, didn't hear a word from him, unless it was to show us his finished pages, boy, can he teach us a thing or two!

About 9pm there were 3 of us left, and we were just pottering, and chatting, so slowly packed up, and home by 9.30.

Nothing to show, as usual, although I hope to finish the 2 pages I started, just need computer journalling added, but that will have to wait a couple of days, tomorrow I'm back to work, then a Tupperware party in the evening, and then half day for the kids on Wednesday, so maybe Thursday I'll finish them.

Second Week of Soccer

Like I said, I would get photos, of Braden playing soccer.

He's having a ball, (sorry for the pun), really gets involved, and was so chuffed yesterday to get a goal, quite a tricky one, if a proud mum can say.

At this age it's funny to watch them, they are like bees around a honeypot, but I guess as many of them haven't played before, it will take a while to get the skills.

Nothing much exciting

- Very busy at work, stocktake coming up next weekend, so lots of extra hours preparing for that. Just got home from stocktaking the Cambridge store, so hoping the kids will co-operate tomorrow....... ooooops, today, so I can catch up.

- Soccer started Saturday, Braden had a ball, but unlike Ruth I didn't get any photos. It was actually pouring half the time, and I wondered if it was to be on, so thought I would get some photos next week when it's a bit finer.

- Kids are back at school, which Cameron is not too impressed about, although he seems to be better in himself about going to school, which makes it a lot easier on our end.

- We are starting our group back up again, for those interested in coming along to scrap. It will be the first Saturday of the month, no product for sale, just half a dozen of us having a good time, contact me, or leave a message, for more details.

Right, that's about it for me, I'd better head off to bed, try to get a bit of sleep before the house wakes up!

Tagged....

....by Tracy! Each player starts with 7 random facts/habits about themselves. People who are tagged need to write on their own blog about their seven things, as well as these rules. At the end of your blog, you need to choose 7 people to get tagged and list their names. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them that they have been tagged and to read your blog!
1 I don't drink tea or coffee (and only very rarely drink milo!)

2 We don't have soap in our house. Before you get grossed out, we only have flowing soap in the handbasin, and shower gel in the shower/bath. I can't stand the mess and the soapy smell that soap has.

3 I can't stand being, and others being, late. I think it shows the utmost disrespect.

4 I have a feet fetish, and no, not in that way. I can't stand people having dirty feet, or long toenails. Along with that, I like to have nailpolish on my toes, and that can't get chipped or it has to be touched up/redone.

5 I am shocking at washing my oven trays, in fact, they get put back in the oven, away from view, and stay there until needed (obviously the really bad or fatty ones get washed)

6 I love Lego, and have spent tons of $$$ on it, but my boys only use the plain blocks, so I take great delight when the neighbours boy or my nephew use the accessories.

7 I just asked my husband to help me out, and he said 'You're not very good at gardening', which, I have to agree with. I get all energised, and then lose interest, and don't water them.

And I don't think there is anyone else to tag, so if you haven't already, DO IT!

So much happening

Well, it's just been non stop for the last 2 weeks, and I am so looking forward to tomorrow, when I have nothing on. I'm going to drop the kids at Craft & Creations, and have a couple of hours to myself!!

I've done quite a few extra days work this last fortnight, and am feeling it now.

We made it to Auckland on Friday night. Left home about 5.30, stopped in at Pokeno Bacon for dinner, and then onto Auckland to our hotel. The best bit of our hotel...... the KINGSIZE bed, LOL.

After chilling for a bit we headed out to the Casino, although we didn't have much luck there, and headed back to the hotel about 12/12.30. We wanted to order some room service ('cause there is a room service menu in our room) only to ring, and ask, and find out that the only thing that is available is 'stew' or something or rather, I'd given up listening at that stage. We wandered up the road to Dennys, and had a midnight snack, don't ya just love that you can do that when you don't have the kids with you, and finally got to bed about 2.30.

We had a late check out of 12, so got up about 9.30, wandered down town for breakfast, and a looksie, and then back to check out. After playing a game of 10 pin, and some pool, we went to see Lisa at her new store, Scrapbook Studio. She was so lovely, and very very helpful, and I would definately go back again (I hadn't been before, because someone had told me something that led me to believe it wasn't a very good store).

Then it was shopping at Sylvia Park, (although we didn't buy much, just wandered, again the sort of thing you can't do with kids,) and lunch, and by now it was 6pm, so we jumped in the car and went to Manukau to the movies, Wild Hogs, a definate must see, absolutely hilarious.

We got home just before 11, very tired, but having had a great night. I was a bit disappointed we could only stay the 1 night, but I had already said I would work for someone else on the Sunday, and I guess I still have Aussie to look forward to.

10 YEARS AGO TODAY

(First I have to apologise for the quality of photos, I had to take photos of photos in my album)

Tauranga Historic Village

The girls. We were ready at least half an hour early, and I just couldn't wait to get on with it. I wasn't nervous, just excited to meet up with my husband to be, and to share with friends and family.

The ceremony. We choose to have an outdoor venue, as we didn't want a religous service in a church. We had a celebrant, who was very casual, we designed the whole service ourselves.

The wedding party. We didn't want it big or flash (remember, we had been living together for 5 years), so I chose my cousin, who I am very very close to, for my bridesmaid, and the best man was Jon's best friend, and the flowergirl was my little sister. We got some cool photos around the Village, however I was a bit disappointed we didn't get more of our guests. If I could do it different I would supply those disposable cameras for guests to use while they were having some nibbles, while we were off having photos.

After photos we had dinner at the village, and that was beautiful and very reasonably priced. There weren't really any facilities for dancing or after dinner entertainment where we were, and as we are definately not dancers, (and wanted to do something different) we took our guests 10 Pin bowling. The sad part is, the photographer had problems and we have no photos, so we have to rely on our memories. I bowled in my wedding dress! (Ooops, tell a lie, I have one photo, which I must find)

It was a really great day, it was exactly as I had imagined it, there wasn't a thing I would change.

EASTER SHOW

After reading Sharon's blog and her view of the Easter Show, I thought I would share my thoughts.

Like Sharon, my eldest is now at the stage that it is 'not cool' to get your photo taken with TV characters, however Junior was not worried. He is also not worried about going on the rides with a little fear factor!

We also enjoyed the Circus, just thrill after thrill, excitement the whole time, not one bit was better than the other.

And again, like Sharon's family, Cameron loved the Bumper Cars

Low points; there used to be a nice grass area, where you could sit and eat, and there was often entertainment (magician, fire-eater, etc). That area has gone in favour of a big building. We were also disappointed by some of the prices, Cameron saved his money all day, because he wanted to buy a shark balloon, however, when we enquired on the price, and discovered they were........ $15 and we talked him out of it, he was very disappointed.

I shouldn't complain, as we were there for 7 hours, so it was a good day in all.

Help, Haircut & Holiday

HELP - I started a page a while ago, which I absolutely love so far, but haven't got a title for it. It's just a photo of the kids and Jon feeding the ducks, but I don't know what title to use. All the obvious ones are sooooo tacky, give me some ideas.

HAIRCUT - I've taken a leaf from Janines book, and have been getting photos taken when I've had my haircut. Only problem was today the light was fading quickly, and the kids were not much help, even my 'reach the arm out' didn't work very well, so I am quite disappointed, but this is one that I thought was Oooookay (Don't ask about the photo lighting, I don't know what happened there, I tried to lighten, so hit the 'equalize' button, and this is what happened, it lightened it, but also did funny things to the background)

HOLIDAY - It is our 10th wedding anniversary next week, and we are having the night in Auckland by ourselves (we actually are trying to get to Aussie for a few days, but just can't fit it in at the moment), what can we do? All you Aucklanders, apart from the Casino, which is a must, and the movies, what else is happening in Auckland?

Some more for you........

And, because it's my blog I can post what I want, so don't be offended if you don't like some of these (they aren't that bad!!!)

I'm back

Wow, what a week that was!

Thanks to everyone who commented and emailed about our friend. What a huge loss, we were just so devastated at the shock of it all.

Monday I took DH over to Hamilton for a regular check up for his eyes, due to diabetes they need to be checked to irregularities and changes. On the way home I dropped him at the airport, as he was away down South for 3 days.

I haven't been feeling to well, most of this week, just a head cold, but it really knocked me, so have just been chilling. No housework. Caught up on videos.

Thursday night saw us at Trivial Pursuits night at DH's work, love these events, they do them regularly, even more fun when ya win :) Unfortunately, DH decided it was a night to party, and we consequently didn't get to sleep till 3am. Now, don't get me wrong, I didn't go out till 3. I had to get home to the babysitter at 9! He did. And I couldn't sleep till he got home (which was 12 not 3) but of course we had to have the customary row after, grrrr, men!

I started having problems with internet access on Monday afternoon, and after listening to the pre-recorded message on the xtra helpline, decided there was nothing to do, they were having problems and I would just have to wait. It took till Wednesday morning before I got back online (up until then I did at least have email), so I surfed for a bit before school, caught up etc, only for it to go down again about 2pm, this time it was email as well.

After moaning to my friend, who lives around the corner, also on broadband, I rung to see when they would get their sh!t sorted, only to find out it was my modem. When the new one hadn't turned up yesterday afternoon, I was gutted at the thought of spending the weekend without it, but fortunately for me, Telecom uses Saturday couriers.

The parcel turned up just as we were on our way out the door to the funeral for the friend I mentioned earlier. I don't do funerals. This is only the second non family member funeral I have been to, but am pleased I went. It was a nice service, very hard under the circumstances, but a very fitting send off.

After dropping off our old bedroom suite to the Trade Me buyer, in Hamilton, (yay, I can finally get some order to my house now that this extra furniture that has been cluttering my bedrooms, has gone), we came home for a 'nana nap', still feeling a little off from the other night.

You would have thought all the time away from the internet I would have scrapped heaps?!?!? NO, nothing, zip, zilch, nada. I hope to tomorrow! Mind you, tomorrow is another day. With the week that I have had, who knows what tomorrow brings!

Although, talking scrapping. This photo is the start of a page. My new shoes. It's not so much the shoes, but the colour. Everything is red in my wardrobe, and when I saw these, and Jon commented how cool they were (which I really did not expect him to say) I had to have them. And, they are soooo comfortable.

Keep an eye out for the rest of the layout :)
