Aaaargh......

I wasn't going to post tonight, (not that you would miss me, LOL) as we are having family movie night (minus the Dad, because he is away for the weekend) but I need to vent.

Cold callers, phone marketers, surveys, whatever you call them, they annoy the cr@p outta me.

Tonight, right on dinner time the phone goes, and I stupidly answered it, thinking it might have been DH. After a huge pause, which is obvious why later, a lady with a terrible accent, don't know where from, starts talking. Now. she speaks good english, but with the accent, and the distance, (she's in Australia) she is very hard to hear and understand. She waffles on about this Affordable Holidays Vacation Club, which sounds good, but hey, as they say, if it sounds too good to be true it probably is! At one stage when I get interupted by one of the kids she asks to speak to one of them...... saying, we've just had a baby and I love kids. Whatever! I tell her politely that it is a very poor connection and they won't be able to hear her! After close to 10 minutes, she says, OK, I'll put you through to my supervisor, so I wait for him, before I lose it, and tell him how hard it is to hear him, that my dinner is burning and my kids are fighting. He is going to ring back at 2pm tomorrow, ha, when I'm not home.

By contrast, the phone just rang again, and, stupid me, answers it again. This time a lady says in a nice clear voice, this is blah blah, from blah blah company, I'm looking for a suitable person for a survey on blah blah, so I say, 'well, who do you want', and she says, 'female, 20 - 24', and I say 'no, sorry', and she says thanks, bye. Now how easy was that!

I was going to post a layout I did, ages ago, but after reading Trace's blog, was reminded about it, and don't think I've shown it here, but I don't have it already photographed and on my computer, so will add it tomorrow. She has some great info there, something I'm passionate about too, probably not as much as her obviously, but it's information that makes a huge difference when the kids get from her stage, at kindy, to mine as new entrants!

Nice banner Angela. Oh my goodness at that first caller. I just always say I am not interested now and hang up. Why is it they call round dinner time. Looking forward to seeing your layout.

Oh man, I just hate those callers!! Sorry to anybody who does that for a job, but I am just sick of it ... working from home now I am getting calls during the day as well as right on dinner time! I'm sorry to say that I am quite abrupt and usually don't let them get through their initial spiel before I say "not interested, thanks" and hang up.

I can't believe that caller asking to speak with one of your kids - how totally odd is that??

I have stopped answering the phone in the middle of the day for this reason and at 6pm if everyone is home! Very frustrating! Thanks for the link to Trace's blog :)

I'm afraid they get a sharp shift from me as well. I can usually tell when Andrew gets one on the phone cos he's not rude like me! Don't like the ones who come to the door either - we seem to have had a lot of Real Estate agents lately and if anyones holding a clipboard they get the heave ho as well.

Yep I've taken to just being sharp and short with them. I know they are just doing their job, but alas they must have training to deal with the likes of me... and thanks for the link Angela, glad your enjoying it.

They annoy me too. We've got caller id and if it says private I'm very reluctant to pick up but my sister's phone comes up that too!

I'm not fussed on the telemarketers either to be honest ... as for the phone company's ... my standard stock response ... I'm more than happy with my current provider thank you ... and hang up ... just like that.

I usually know they are telemarketers once they ask for Mrs xxxx. They get a very quick "sorry, click" from me.

That holiday lot are a scam to get your credit card number - just say no thanks and put the phone down. Now the other survey lot I always talk to as those are people trying to earn an honest wage

We have an unlisted number so we don't get much if anything at all. Only things we have signed up for somewhere. But I know how aggregating it was in the states! MAN! I'm really shocked they asked to speak to your son, what's up with that???? That is weird. And the other one asking for a certain age range. Even more bizarre!

I found a quick way to get rid of them now... we don't have a TV, no-one lives here, we don't eat, we don't go on holidays, no men, no children... nothing! I even told the phone one that I didn't have a phone and he just said thanks for your time... (what did he think I was talking to him on???) But it does work :D
